The Story
I’ve been rolling dice since 1980. Started as a player, became a forever DM, and spent 45 years watching the game evolve. Through every edition, every rule change, every new trend — one thing stayed constant: players want depth, DMs want tools, and everyone wants their time at the table to matter.
That’s why I built Maylin’s Games.
I’m Patrick, and I run two businesses: Sanctuary Pest Control (because even DMs need to eat) and Maylin’s Games (because some of us can’t stop creating). This isn’t a corporate publishing house. It’s one guy with decades of experience who got tired of seeing shallow mechanics and decided to do something about it.
Every subclass I write, every tool I build, every adventure I create — it’s tested at real tables. It’s refined through actual play. And it’s built on a simple principle: respect the DM’s time and the player’s investment.
The Terramancer isn’t just another earth mage. The Character Sheet Generator isn’t just another form-filler. The Living World (coming 2027) isn’t just another virtual tabletop. These are systems designed by someone who’s run games for longer than most of you have been alive, and who still shows up to the table every week.
I started the Carpe DM YouTube channel to share this journey. To talk about design philosophy. To show you what goes into building these systems. To prove that thoughtful mechanics and deep worldbuilding aren’t dead — they’re just rare.
This is a legacy project. I’m not here to get rich. I’m here to give back to the community that raised me, to create tools that actually help, and to leave something behind that makes the game better.
